What is this project?
Humanæ is a “work in progress” by the Brazilian Angélica Dass, who intends to deploy a chromatic range of the different human skin colors. Those who pose are volunteers who have known the project and decide to participate. There is no previous selection of participants and there are no classifications relating to nationality, gender, age, race, social class or religion. Nor is there an explicit intention to finish it on a specific date. It is open in all senses and it will include all those who want to be part of this colossal global mosaic. The only limit would be reached by completing all of the world’s population.
What’s Happening with the project now?
At present, more than 3500 images existing in the Project. They are been taken in 27 cities, in 17 different countries: Madrid, Barcelona, Getxo, Bilbao and Valencia (Spain), Paris (France), Bergen (Norway), Winterthur, Chiasso (Switzerland), Groningen, The Hague (Netherlands), Dublin (Ireland), Tyumen (Russia), Gibellina and Vita (Italy), Vancouver (Canada), Gambier, Pittsburgh and Chicago (USA), Quito (Ecuador), Valparaíso (Chile), Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Córdoba (Argentina), New Delhi (India), Daegu (South Korea) and Adís Abeba (Ethiopia).
When can I see it in person?
The big reveal and celebration will take place on the corner of Market and Broad Street in Downtown Kingsport on October 5, 2017 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm . After a short ceremony at 4:30 p.m., the public can enjoy cake pops, art projects and selfies with the mural installation.
